Growing up in the Canadian west, my love of the outdoors and nature preceded my love for photography. Spending so much time in the country I’d often come across old, abandoned homesteads. It was fascinating to see how people lived back then, and the evidence of the hardships they had endured. I decided to start photographing these buildings and the many interesting things they left behind. It became a passion which continues today.
So many of these monuments to the old west are disappearing, but it thrills me to see some landowners protecting these relics. Unfortunately this won’t last forever, and not too long down the road they will all be gone.
Of course I photograph many other things as well, and I hope these images give you pleasure to see. Enjoy!
